Let’s go to the Hop – The So Suzy Stamps Design Team Divas Blog Hop

In honor of the new So Suzy Stamps Design Team Divas we are holding a blog hop. I’ll be honest, this is my first one so my goal is simply not to mess it up. 🙂 If  I can manage that I will consider it a success. lol You should be coming from Amy A’s blog. If not, you can click here to go there now. If you follow the hop and comment on each of our blogs the you could win a $15 gift certificate. The lucky winner will be chosen at random from those that have commented on all the blogs and will be announced on the So Suzy blog on June 5th.

I created the prettiest Congratulations / Birthday Cards for this post. A very close friend of mine celebrated her birthday in May. We have known each other for a long time and I’ve created many cards but I wanted to do something a little different, more elegant.

For both cards I used one of the So Suzy Stamps gorgeous cupcake stamps (I just love these). They are beautiful and fun in three sizes, perfect for any occasion.

The first card started with the Medium Cupcake Swirl. I stamped it with Tim Holtz Distress Ink pad on Whisper White paper. Then went back over it with a Stampin Up pink pen. For the swirl to standout I used the Stampin Up Gold Pen to simply trace over the swirl. I sorted through my scrap paper box and found two pieces of pink that were perfect. I triple matted the cupcake on the light pink first then added a piece of Stampin Up Diamond Glimmer paper followed by the dark pink using Stampin Up Glue Dots.

I am terrible for getting ink ‘oops’ spots all over my cards and this one was no exception. To try and avoid it (without doing the obvious and washing my hands in between) I mounted my cupcake triple matte on a separate piece of whisper white before putting it on the card. This way if I get ink on it I can change out the paper or find a way to cover it up.

Another downfall I have is I do not possess the ability to cut, draw, stamp, paint, etc a straight line – ever. I’m ok with it and I’m sure you will see the ‘Congratulations’ is crooked on this card. lol Using Versa Fine Black I used the So Suzy Stamp ‘Congratulations’ beneath the cupcake. I had some light pink ribbon and just tied a simple bow at the bottom before adhering the panel onto the whisper white card base measuring 5×7. The sentiment inside is sure to make someone smile, ‘You Survived Another Year’.

My finishing touch was a pretty pink skittle. I just love these little things, they are different than your average button or stickle dot. I highly recommend them.

That is it. Like I said very simple but pretty. Most of what I do is collage style or grungy so it was nice to do something different. The second card is essentially the same, pics are located at the bottom of this post.

Next up on the hop is Sharon’s blog. The full list of everyone is below in case you get off course. Enjoy and thank you for visiting!

  2. Too cute, Amy! We need to get you a MISTI so you don’t have to worry about how straight or not straight your sentiments come out! LOL You did GREAT for your first hop! Woo hoo!

  3. I have problems with “oopsies” too. Sometimes it’s too hard to cover them and I get so aggravated with myself. Bob Ross said there were no mistakes – only happy accidents , so I try to take that mantra to heart.
thanks for sharing some beautiful projects.

  4. I consider your two cards for your first hop to be a resounding success! You’ve showcased the cupcakes beautifully, and I see no ‘mistakes’ at all; only sweet treats that have sparked a ‘something decadent’ craving! Love your Bob Ross reminder…I consider the ‘adjustments’ we sometimes have to make as ‘design innovation’! Give yourself a pat on the back…your cards are fabulous!
